An 86-year-old WWII veteran who was captured by the Japanese, held as prisoner of war for three years, and was one of eleven who survived out of 65 in his Marine Corps unit. He is the last surviving veteran from this group. If you are a veteran or someone who could donate veteran’s collections, please volunteer to donate memories, accounts and documents to the National Veteran’s History Project. The RSVP program would like to do its part to preserve these memories by inviting veterans to join the Veterans History Project, here, in Sacramento. We are looking for veterans and civilians who are willing to be interviewed on videotape. This will be a very important contribution we can give our future generations. Enlist now and share your experiences!

Veteran’s History Project

The Library of Congress American Folklife Center and Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) invite you to join in an important national project, the Veterans History Project. The mission of the Veterans History Project is to collect the memories, accounts, and documents of war veterans from World War I, World War II, the Korean, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf Wars, and to preserve these stories of experience and service for future generations. Visit the DHA Veteran’s History Project web page or the National Project website.
